Educational research often reveals that students participating in after school athletics and activities perform better academically in their school than students who do not participate. The intent of House Bill 1660 is to remove barriers that could prevent participation by all students. Under HB 1660, school districts who charge a fee for attendance at or participation in any optional, noncredit extracurricular event must adopt a policy for waiving all fees for students who are low income. By filling out the Parental Release of Information Form, you are opting to have ASB fees waived based on your student’s free and reduced-price lunch eligibility.
